The Pitch

The Home Retrofit Challenge

The Challenge: America’s 67 million single–family, owner-occupied homes are leaking energy like sieves. Homeowners are spending good money to heat and cool the outdoors, living in imperfect comfort. Over 20% of America’s energy consumption and CO2 emissions are from heating, cooling and powering our homes.

Our solution: Retrofit America will jumpstart demand for home efficiency retrofits with our Home Efficiency App™ and build America’s #1 network of home performance contractors to make homes energy efficient – by aggregating the best contractors as licensees on a single, integrated Home Retrofit IT System™.

Revenue Model: We’ll make money by charging contractors license fees to use this Software-as-a-Service IT platform, plus fees for lead generation.

Our Home Retrofit IT System™

Retrofit America’s Home Retrofit IT System™ will be the first fully-integrated IT platform for home performance contractors to streamline the complete home retrofit process – from energy audit, to implementation, to test out and post-retrofit analysis.

Retrofit America will generate leads for our contractor licensees with our groundbreaking Home Efficiency App™ – a quick and easy way to estimate a home’s efficiency for heating and cooling, just by uploading utility bill data, thermostat settings, and the home’s square footage.

Proof of Concept and Market Traction

Proof of Concept: Retrofit America has developed and tested the elements of our Home Retrofit IT System™ in the course of conducting over 250 energy audits and over 100 home retrofits through our home retrofit contracting operation in Atlanta.

Market Traction: Nine home performance contractors have signed on to be first-user licensees. They are recognized market leaders in Albany, NY; Allentown, PA; Baltimore, MD; Binghamton, NY; Northern NJ (three contractors); Portland, OR; and Seattle, WA.

The Ask

We are now raising $500,000 to build out our Home Retrofit IT System™ into a fully-integrated system and to scale its rollout to 25 contractor licensees.
